Comprehensive Student Support Services
1. Student Assessments & Evaluations
We conduct comprehensive evaluations to identify students’ academic and developmental needs. These include eligibility assessments, hearing and vision screenings, and other diagnostic tools to ensure appropriate support services are provided.
Our goal is early identification and timely intervention.
2. Specialized Instruction & Academic Support
Our licensed teachers and trained paraeducators provide individualized instruction tailored to each student’s learning profile. Services are designed to support:
- Students with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Students needing targeted academic intervention
- Students requiring additional instructional accommodations
Instruction is personalized to help students reach grade-level expectations and beyond.
3. Related & Therapeutic Services (Virtual & On-Site)
To ensure equitable access across all rural campuses, we offer virtual and on-site related services including:
- Speech and Language Therapy
- Occupational Therapy
- Social Skills Development
- Behavioral and Emotional Support
Through innovative virtual platforms, students across rural Utah communities receive consistent, high-quality care.
4. Multidisciplinary Team Collaboration
Student growth is a team effort.
Our multidisciplinary team — including teachers, administrators, specialists, and families — works collaboratively to develop and implement individualized plans that support both academic achievement and social-emotional development.

School Accommodation Plans (SAP)
Clear Pathways for Student Support
A School Accommodation Plan (SAP) is Athenian’s structured Tier 2/3 support system designed to help students who are struggling before moving to special education evaluation.
SAPs provide a clear middle ground — ensuring students receive timely interventions while maintaining accurate and appropriate SPED decisions
What a SAP Includes
- Targeted classroom accommodations
- WIN Day interventions
- Progress monitoring plan
- Timeline for review and next steps
Supports may include small group reteach, extended time, chunked assignments, tutoring, or social skill support.
How the Process Works
- Concern Identified (Teacher or Parent)
- Parent Referral Form Submitted (Required)
- Student Services Reviews & Creates SAP
- Teacher Implements Supports
- Progress Reviewed & Next Steps Determined
If interventions are effective, supports continue. If not, documentation helps determine whether a SPED evaluation is appropriate.
