- Date August 8, 2025
Dear Parents and Guardians,
We are excited to share updates about our school meal program for the 2025–2026 school year!
Athenian Academy will continue to offer a universal free breakfast to all students across our participating sites. Breakfast will be served in the classroom each morning to help every student start the day with a nutritious meal and be ready to learn.
Lunch will now be based on eligibility through free and paid-price applications. Families who do not qualify for free meals will be charged $3.00 per lunch. To determine your eligibility, please fill out a lunch application through your Aspire account. Instructions can be found here. If you are unable to complete the application online, a paper form can be submitted to your lunchroom manager.
Note: We have 10 days to process applications. Until your application is approved, please send lunch money. Benefits do not backdate, and charges incurred before approval will not be waived.
We’re also pleased to announce that we’ve expanded our program to include Moab, and our Vernal campus now has a full kitchen and lunchroom on-site! Our other participating locations include:
● Ballard
● Nephi
● Tremonton
● Richfield
● Roosevelt (Tuesdays, Wednesdays, & Thursdays – Monday and Friday pick-up in
Ballard)
● Vernal
● Moab
In addition to breakfast and lunch, we’re continuing our popular Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program, which allows students to try a fresh fruit or vegetable twice a week. For our Blended Education students, you are welcome to pick up meals and participate in the fruit and vegetable program, even on days you’re not scheduled to be on campus. Just check with your local site for consistent service times.
We’re proud to support student health and learning through good nutrition, and we appreciate your participation as we continue to grow and evolve.
Warmly,
Ashley Smith
Child Nutrition Director
Athenian eAcademy
This institution is an equal opportunity provider.
Ashley Smith was born and raised in Provo, where she spent much of her childhood in restaurants. Her mother worked as the banquet manager at Sundance, and after school, Ashley would head up the mountain to ski until the slopes closed then help set up for banquets.
Her passion for hospitality deepened when her family opened a fine dining restaurant. There, she learned a bit of everything and worked as a server while earning her bachelor’s degree in Behavioral Science with an emphasis in Psychology from Utah Valley University.
After graduating, Ashley served as a lunch manager in the Provo School District for 13 years before joining Athenian. She enjoys supporting students through nutritious meals in an environment that’s more predictable and rewarding than the traditional restaurant industry.
Ashley is married and the proud mother of an amazing autistic son, which has fueled her deep passion for supporting and advocating for children with special needs. She strongly believes that every child deserves to feel seen, supported, and well-fed.
