Trista Taylor is 33 years old and from Richfield Utah. She is married and has 2 kids, a boy (8 years old) and a girl (12 years old).
Trista graduated from Richfield High School, received a Certificate in Computer Applications from Snow College, received her Bachelors Degree in Psychology from Southern Utah University, and received her Masters of Science in Psychology from University of Phoenix. While attending college she worked with female youth in youth facilities in Cedar City, Utah. She worked with girls ranging from age 12-17 for 6 years.
Trista had initially planned to get her PsyD in psychology, but when her husband went to work in Afghanistan she chose to stay home with her children. She says, “Staying home with my children was the best decision I’ve ever made!” Before staying home with her children, Trista had been independent and career driven. She said that staying home with her kids “humbled me and taught me an immense amount of patience.” While at home, Trista and her husband invested in rental properties that they manage and maintain still today.
On her free time, Trista enjoys camping, hiking, skydiving, rappelling, snowmobiling, swimming in the canal with the kids and anything else outdoor. She considers herself an easy going and simple person. She says that she tries “to keep my life simple and stay out of the glitz and glamour of the world outside.” She believes in family values and personal integrity. She believe in being honest and hard working and simply doing the best we can with the cards in life we’re given.
As a teacher at Athenian eAcademy, she hopes to be the kind of teacher the kids can rely on to help them be successful in school, but also to encourage them to be everything God intended for them to be. She believes that every person is unique and has a unique gift to offer the world. She says that her job is to encourage the students to find their own unique self and encourage them to share that person with the world. She believes that students excel best academically when they have a solid understanding of who they are and where they are going in life. She hopes to inspire scholars who value integrity, honesty, and hard work!
My name is Richard Hawley. I am 37 years old and grew up in Central Valley. I am married and have five children, four girls and one boy.
I graduated from South Sevier High School and then attended Snow College in Ephraim. After serving a two year mission for the LDS church, I returned and finished my Associate of Science degree at Snow College Richfield campus. I then attended Utah State University where I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. After graduating with my degree, I was hired by the Division of Juvenile Justice Services as a line-staff counselor at Wasatch Youth Center, a secure facility where I worked with delinquent adolescents. I ran treatment groups and assisted licensed professional counselors with the rehabilitation of these youth and their re-entry into society. While I was working on my degree in Psychology, I was particularly interested in child development and decided to pursue a Master’s degree in Education and earn my teaching certificate. I began attending Weber State University and earned my license in 2011. I am in the process of completing my thesis and am set to graduate from Weber State in Spring 2017. I was hired by the Davis School District at Antelope Elmentary School to teach P.E. during the 2011-2012 school year. I continued to teach P.E. the following year and was asked by the administration to direct the schools Title 1 before/after school program. I wanted to get into the classroom and began looking for open positions within the Davis School District. I was hired to teach 5th grade at Eagle Bay Elementary. I also served as the schools assistant webmaster and was a lead advisor in the schools STEM club. I am excited about the opportunity to work for Athenian eAcademy and bring my experience and skills to help my students succeed.
My personal interests include cycling, both road and mountain, skiing, snowboarding, camping, and motorcycles. I enjoy reading and serving in my church and community. I love being involved in the scouting program and earned my eagle scout award as a youth. I love my family and the support they give to me.
As an educator at Athenian eAcademy, I will build the relationships and trust that are imparitive in order to create a learning environment that will help my students use the talents they have and value themselves and each other as unique individuals that have much to offer to their community and the world if they are willing to work for it.
I was born in St George Utah a very long, long time ago on February 17th. I was 7th of 8 children and called a “Miracle Baby” because my mother had to have open heart surgery while six months pregnant with me (which was unheard of back then). We both made it through and it made for a very close bond between my mother and myself for as long as she lived.
My Jr year of High School I went as a Rotary Exchange Student to the Philippines
