Apply Now for 2024 – 2025  Enrollment

How to Enroll at Athenian Academy

Every child has an equal chance of getting accepted into Athenian Academy. Anyone not selected through the lottery will be placed on a waitlist and seats will be filled if they become available.

Our Registrar will notify you via email upon being selected in the lottery and notify you of additional documentation required, if needed. Please contact tammiebankhead@aea.rocks with questions!

Your most frequently asked questions

What is the application period for the upcoming school year (2024 to 2025)?

The application period for the 2024 to 2025 school year is open from February until October 1, 2024. During this time, parents can submit applications for their children.

All applications must be submitted by the deadline of October 1, 2024. Late applications are typically not included in the lottery.

We don’t have a formal waitlist, as different campuses may have varying capacities and openings. Typically, waitlists are managed and updated based on the availability of spots as they arise throughout the year.

How often is the waitlist updated?

The waitlist is updated regularly, particularly when a spot becomes available due to a student withdrawing or declining their offer.

If a student on the waitlist is offered a spot, the parents will be notified via email. They will then have a specified period to accept the offer and complete the necessary enrollment documentation.

After the lottery, a spreadsheet of selected students is downloaded to ensure no location exceeds its capacity. An enrollment packet is then sent to the parents, who must complete and return it. Once received, the student is officially placed in the system.

Yes, there is an acceptance deadline. Parents must accept the offered spot and submit the required enrollment documents within the specified timeframe indicated in the notification email.

Why is Athenian implementing a lottery system?

Athenian implements a lottery system to ensure a fair and transparent method of selecting students when the number of applicants exceeds the available seats. This system provides all applicants an equal opportunity to enroll, regardless of when they apply within the application period.

The lottery is conducted after the application period closes, typically in early October. The lottery is not open all year round; it is a one-time event for each school year to allocate seats fairly when there are more applicants than available spots.

Applicants are notified about the lottery results via email. This notification includes whether the student has been accepted, placed on a waitlist, or not selected.

The state requires a completed enrollment packet, including the student’s grade, date of birth, address, emergency contact information, and a signed computer agreement. Additionally, a birth certificate and immunization records are required. Note: Do not include this information on the website.

Parents are informed about the details and outcomes of the lottery via email. This communication includes the status of their application and next steps if their child is accepted.

No, the lottery process operates on a first-come, first-served basis and does not include special considerations for students with disabilities or special needs. However, the school is committed to providing support and accommodations once students are enrolled.

Parents can contact Tamie Bankhead at 385-258-5965 for any questions or concerns about the lottery process.

Enrollment Capacities

Athenian Academy has a very unique enrollment structure. We have a school-wide enrollment capacity of 800 students in grades K-8.

Consistent with our blended model, each community is capped at their planned enrollment number, but there is no limit per grade. These are subject to change based upon enrollment needs per community.
