Dear Athenian Parents,
Athenian offers several opportunities for parents to get involved in our school, and we appreciate their participation. One of the easiest and quickest ways to get involved is to join one of the school’s parent committees. The following information outlines the committees currently available, and the form for participating in any of these committees can be found at the Committee Application Link.
Community Council, LAND Trust Committee
School Contact: pamlarmouth@aea.rocks
Purpose: This committee is to nurture the Development (LAND) Trust program, which is funded by Utah Trust Lands and provides millions of dollars to public K-12 schools. These funds support academic achievement for students across the state. The School LAND Trust Plan Proposal gives safety recommendations for administration. The committee also promotes positive student behavior and the use of technology.
Meeting Schedule: Meet 2-3 times a year.
Membership: Parents and Staff. The committee needs two more parents than staff members, and the chair needs to be a parent. Members are selected through an election or request from the administration to participate.
Athenian Health Curriculum Committee
School Contact: katieatkin@aea.rocks
Purpose: The Health Committee is to review and approve the State health curriculum for the school year. The committee must include parents and staff members. This meeting will also be used to approve the content of our Maturation night.
Meeting Schedule: We need to meet at least once per year online.
Membership: Parents of AeA students or school employees at AeA.
Wellness Committee
School Contact: ashleysmith@aea.rocks
Purpose: The Wellness Committee supports the health and well-being of students by reviewing and improving our school’s wellness policy. We focus on nutrition, physical activity, and overall wellness practices to create a healthier school environment.
Meeting Schedule: Meet once per year.
Membership: Members should be interested in student health and wellness. Parents, staff, and community members are welcome to join.
